Why it’s okay to be multi-passionate

If you feel called to pursue many different passions, it’s okay! While the general advice in business is to “do one thing, and do it well”, I appreciate that for many of us we can have difficulty staying focused on just one thing.

I’ve had many different businesses over the years, and I find I get bored after a while and want to explore something new.

I’ve also been exploring my Gemini-ness lately and embracing my multi-passionate nature (as you can probably tell if you follow me on Instagram!). Between teaching yoga classes, launching tarot & oracle decks, doing tarot & astrology readings, medical astrology sessions, promoting my book & planner, and generally being a moon manifesting queen, I do a lot of different things!

So I want you to know that IT’S OKAY IF YOU’RE MULTI-PASSIONATE! Embrace it. See where it takes you!

But what if you’re spreading your energy too thin?

Something that’s come up for me lately is that I’ve noticed my energy is being spread too thin, and I’ve wondered if I could achieve better results and I laser-focused on just ONE thing.

For example, I juggle yoga with a lot of my other passions. But what if I went all-in with yoga, and became known for my unique moon flow yoga classes?

What if, instead of diluting my yoga marketing amongst all the other things I do, I could:

• Create a website dedicated to my yoga classes
• Create a dedicated Youtube channel with regular yoga flows
• Start a yoga-only email newsletter for subscribers
• Write a weekly blog post about yoga
• Start a new social media account, strictly about yoga

The same could be said for ANY of my many passions!

Maybe you can relate – you can see how you’re spreading your energy too thin, it’s diluting your message, and frankly, it’s confusing your audience.

What if you went all-in with ONE thing?

So I recently started a new side hustle, Website Witchery, where I design magickal websites for soulpreneurs.

And it got me thinking about:

1. How I’m spreading my energy thin between all my different passions

2. But how I could focus my energy on websites, and make that my “one thing”!

I’ve recently been reading We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers (such an inspiring book, definitely read it!) and she talks about different zones.

• Zone of incompetence: the things you’re not good at, it doesn’t come naturally, and it’s obvious you’re not good at this area.
• Zone of competence: things that you can do, but it might be stuff that most people can do, like operating a checkout or flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant.
• Zone of excellence: something that you’ve studied for or invested a lot of time into (ie. studying for a degree), so you will be quite skilled at this area, BUT it doesn’t light you up inside
• Zone of genius: something that’s easy, natural AND lights you up. It’s fulfilling work, and is something unique that only you can share with the world.

The zone of genius is where you should focus your efforts on so you can make more money, more easily. Outsource the stuff that doesn’t fall into your zone of genius!

Now, I’m not saying that websites are my zone of genius (or yoga, or astrology, or tarot!) but reading Rachel Rodgers book definitely got me thinking about this. It’s inspired me to start shifting things so I can focus more on what comes easily & naturally rather than trying to force things to happen.

My life as a multi-passionate entrepreneur

So at the moment I’m hyper-focusing on website work at Website Witchery, because it IS what’s coming naturally to me. Clients are coming to me easily, and it’s paying my bills 🎉

Even though I’m a multi-passionate Gemini with soooo many different interests, I know that if I focus on one main thing, it will be more successful.

Another thing that Rachel Rodgers talks about in We Should All Be Millionaires is that you CAN be multi-passionate – but do it in your own time!

For example, I could go all-in with websites, but still do yoga, tarot readings etc but not necessarily monetize those things. I can do yoga for ME, tarot for ME, etc etc.

Key takeaway: you don’t have to monetize EVERYTHING. You can do things just for you, just for fun!

So am I just getting bored of moon manifesting, and sabotaging my work in this field? Maybe! Who knows what the future will bring?
